Presentations on attracting economic development and strengthening local chambers of commerce will be highlights of "Race to the Future," the Mississippi Economic Development Council's (MEDC) winter conference scheduled Feb. 4-6 at the Hilton Hotel in Jackson.

"Economic development has become a very competitive activity, and every community is vying to have a horse in the race, so to speak." said Carol Hardwick, association manager for the MEDC. "We thought that title was a very appropriate name for the conference."

MEDC is the statewide organization for chamber of commerce professionals and economic and community developers. MEDC establishes and advocates Mississippi's economic and community development agenda.

Hardwick expects about 250 in attendance...
