Moody's Investors Service today placed the D+ bank financial strength rating (BFSR) of Banco Portugues de Negocios, S.A. (BPN SA) on review for possible downgrade and its Baa3 long-term and Prime-3 short-term debt and deposit ratings on review with direction uncertain. All of these ratings had a negative outlook since 18 June 2008. Moody's also placed the Ba1 issuer rating of the banking group's holding company, BPN SGPS S.A., on review for possible downgrade.
