Article Excerpt Even though the terrorist events that occurred September 11, 2001, stunned Tammy Wood, an event that happened five days later shook her to the core.
Wood's dad, Richard Welburn, a 32-year-veteran sheet metal worker, suffered a massive stroke that left him permanently disabled. Woods was only 20.
"Our family was shaken," said Woods, whose mom, Gwen Welburn, left Allstate Insurance after 34 years to become her father's full-time caregiver. "She has been by his side every minute since that horrific day. She continues to provide hope and support to my father as he continues to rehabilitate."
