After serving six years in the U.S. Marine Corps, Angel Sanford transitioned into foodservice, starting out in loss prevention as an operations manager. From there, her foodservice experience quickly diversified to operations, customer service, sales, finance and purchasing.

"I have an insatiable appetite for knowledge," explained Sanford, "and I wanted to know every facet of the distribution and national account foodservice arena."

Sanford was concerned about some of her findings. "In several of my career paths, I've found they've been dominated primarily by men. I make it my goal and mission to uplift, educate and mentor women that I come in contact with daily. The Women's Foodservice Forum quoted this year that 50% of the personnel in restaurants were women, 25% had positions...
