Midwest storms in May produce $850M in losses

Strong storms that pounded parts of the Midwest May 22 through May 26 caused $850 million in damage, according to the Insurance Services Office Inc. Tornadoes that ripped through the towns of Parkersburg, Iowa, and Hugo, Minn., generated $160 million and $420 million in insured losses, respectively, according to ISO's Property Claims Services division. The five other states affected by the storms were Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Wyoming.
