Every once in a while you make a discovery that changes your whole perspective. I recently had this experience with a piece of software that was in the beta testing phase that caused me to forget what life was like without it. I cannot imagine why this tool is not integrated into every e-mail client, but I can assure you I will never be without it again.
This Cool Tools column will focus on e-mail tools that help you stay organized, manage your attachments, and allow you to send very large files. I'll start with Xobni, the ultimate Outlook add-in that has changed my e-mail productivity forever.
Xobni. Available at www.xobni.com, Xobni ("inbox" spelled backwards) is the cool application with the funny name--it's pronounced "zob knee" and it is a free application that indexes all of your e-mail messages and attachments to make them quickly and easily searchable. Looking for an attachment from a particular sender is a snap. Need to find a conversation you had via e-mail with another user? No problem. Need an e-mail address or phone number from someone who is not in your contact list? Xobni fits the bill. Let's take a closer look.
Xobni can be toggled on and off to save screen real estate, but when on, it sits on the right-hand side of your Outlook window with information galore, as in the figure below.

Within the Xobni sidebar, there are a number of actions and statistics to help you be more productive including lightning fast e-mail searches, e-mail analytics, navigation of your inbox by people's names, a look at threaded conversations...
