The dense and exotic writings of the French philosophers Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari--rife with near-impenetrable neologisms and pungent with often-humorous critiques of "royal science" and myriad other Western dalliances--have attracted their fair share of devotees, detractors, interpreters, misinterpreters, and even a few practitioners. "Deleuzeans, " though by no means monolithic in their theoretical and political outlooks, have made inroads into the humanities (in film theory and literary criticism, for example) and, increasingly, into the social sciences.
