One day more than 10 years ago, Susan Horton got out her boom box, played the "Macarena" in the middle of Mid Rivers Mall and encouraged mall walkers to join her for a morning dance.

Horton was working in marketing at the mall, and she was given the task of recognizing seniors. "We did some (tai chi-like) demonstrations for them, and one senior came up and told me, 'We may be old, but we're not dead. Let's dance.'"

That's where the "Macarena" came in.
