When Michel Leveille failed to hit the NCAA academic qualifying standards prior to his freshman season at the University of Maine, costing him his hockey scholarship, he knew he was going to have to find a way to pay for his first year of school.

So he got a job as a lineman with the power company at his home in Canada, climbing poles high in the air to fix lines. "I worked a 12-hour shift, five days a week,'' he said. "I knew I had to make as much money as I could."

Leveille, a senior forward, still provides electricity, but now he does it on ice for the Black Bears, who have reached the Frozen Four for the third time in his four seasons and have a shot at their first NCAA title since 1999.
