Berniece Awmiller
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Rest-Haven Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene for Berniece Irene Awmiller of Eugene. She died Sept. 25 of cancer at age 85.
She was born Oct. 17, 1922, in Aberdeen, S.D., to Marion and Alice Lowary Babbitt. She married Kenneth "Cy" Awmiller in 1941 in Renton, Wash.
She graduated from Aberdeen High School in South Dakota. She worked in Renton, Wash., as a waitress and as a sheet metal worker in the shipyards during World War II. She worked in Sutherlin in a plywood mill, as a bookkeeper and in an appliance store, then as a bookkeeper for Blue River Veneer Co. for 11 years.
