William Cook

COQUILLE - William A. "Bill" Cook of Coquille died Sept. 24 of age-related causes. He was 93. No service is planned.

He was born Dec. 1, 1914, in Silver Lake to Francis and Olive Whitney Cook. He married Ora Dell Reed on June 9, 1940, in Clatskanie. She died Feb. 28, 2005.

He attended Southern Oregon Normal School and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon. He was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force and a retired major from the Air Force Reserve.

Cook was a schoolteacher in Junction City, a flight instructor at Mahlon Sweet Airport in Eugene and a manager of the Coos-Curry Electric Co-op.
