Chuck Harral knew little or nothing about the auto wrecking business when he moved up here from Southern California in 1972 and bought Springfield Auto Wreckers on Main Street.

What the military veteran did know was, he wanted to get out of El Monte with his wife and three children. "It was just too hectic," he says. "I needed a better life for the kids. So we moved up here and bought the wrecking yard."
