It's reasonable to argue that double taxation is wrong: Income that has already been paid in tax to one government should not be taxed again by another. The case for Measure 59 rests on that principle and that principle alone. The measure, however, proposes to eliminate an unfairness for a few at an unacceptably high cost to all. Oregonians should reject Measure 59, just as they have rejected similar proposals in the past.
