Former St. Paul Police Chief Bill Finney will be allowed to tell jurors about an alleged prior incident of abuse between his friend Aaron W. Foster and Foster's girlfriend, Barbara (Bobbi) Winn, that occurred about five months before Winn was fatally shot, according to court documents.

Winn's children also will testify about what they recall about the night 27 years ago when they awoke, ran into their mother's room and found her slumped over from a gunshot wound to her chest.

Finney and the three children, now grown, are among 27 witnesses whom prosecutors may call to testify at Foster's trial in Ramsey County District Court. Jury selection begins today....
