Reacting to the U.S. Supreme Court's decision last term in Riegel v. Medtronic, Inc., dozens of members of the House of Representatives have signed on to cosponsor the Medical Device Safety Act of 2008, which would allow injured consumers and patients to hold medical device manufacturers accountable for defective devices. The bill was introduced in the House in late June.
