John Lurie makes up stories. Like the characters of Marcel Proust, his stories seem to find their place in memory, or dreams that resemble memories. Lurie's drawings are filled with images that when recalled feel like they were at one time actual experiences. Only in his case, the characters are strange animals and transfigured humans--or, in one scenario, a family of penises on vacation in Atlantic City.
