When Mark Lishen was in the midst of preparing paperwork for the headquarters of his architectural firm to become the second LEED-certified building in Mississippi, Hurricane Katrina paid a visit.

Fortunately, the home office of Biloxi-based Guild Hardy Architects, completed days before Katrina hit, did not suffer storm damage. However, "fighting the post-Katrina bubble," as Lishen calls it, hampered efforts to comply with the paperwork required to achieve the prestigious status.
