THE dark clouds hangingoverIrish rugby are proving much harder to shift than first imagined. After theWorld Cup shambles, the build up to this weekend's opening salvos in theHeineken Cup has been one pervaded with questions over how poorly the provinceswill perform.

But the man who passed through the eye of the World Cup storm and back againyesterday went against the grain of the gloom.

IrelandandLeinstercaptain Brian O'Driscoll insisted at the Dublin launch of this year'scompetition that he can't wait to get stuck into some of the continent's topteams.

And as it happens, given the lopsided draw, the Blues do not even have to lookbeyond their opening...
