Cincinnati's American Financial Group Inc. is planning to spin off a Richfield-based insurance subsidiary into a stand-alone public company.

A registration statement filed last week with the Securities and Exchange Commission for the initial public offering states that the 65%-owned subsidiary, National Interstate Insurance Co., would become National Interstate Corp.

The offering is expected to raise $55 million for National Interstate, according to an American Financial news release....
