STARS OF THE GAME
Oregon - Jeremiah Johnson, senior running back, Los Angeles. After suffering a season-ending knee injury midway through last season, Johnson's return to playing was triumphant, as he rushed for a career-best 124 yards on 15 carries, an average of 8.3 yards per carry, and scored two touchdowns, with another long TD run called back by a penalty.
Washington - Jake Locker, sophomore QB, Ferndale, Wash. Locker suffered a hamstring injury in August, but he still was a handful, as he netted 57 yards rushing, or more than half the Huskies' total of 95 yards net rushing. Locker was sacked three times; he completed 12-of-28 passes for 103 yards.
KEY STAT
Rushing yards - While the Huskies netted only 95 yards rushing, the Ducks rushed for 256 yards. Washington averaged 2.2 yards per carry, and the Ducks averaged 5.8.
TURNING POINT
Oregon runs it - The Ducks led only 14-10, having been shut out in the second quarter and on their first possession of the third quarter, when Oregon put quarterback Chris Harper into the game for the first time. The gifted runner rushed 13 yards to the UW 13, and on the next play Jeremiah Johnson rushed 13 more yards for the touchdown that gave Oregon breathing room. The...
