There is life after Hynix.

Not convinced? Meet Julie and Casey Shaw. The couple, then in their mid-20s, were laid off from Hynix in July 2001 during a six-month shutdown for retooling.

Hynix rehired them both later that year but, by then, Julie was pregnant with the couple's first child. With their family expanding, the Shaws were eager to move closer to relatives - his family was in San Diego and hers in Seattle. They said they also felt some jitters returning to Hynix after the temporary shutdown.
