About twenty-three years ago, Southern Baptist work was started among the Pima Indians, at Sacaton, Arizona, by Rev. J. O. Willet. He served as a volunteer missionary until his health failed. (1) Rev. and Mrs. Marvin Heard were then appointed as part-time missionaries by the Home Mission Board and served for seven years. On December 1, 1939, my husband and I were appointed as full-time missionaries by the Home Mission Board.

The Pima Indians were found to be ready to hear the gospel and to help spread the Word of God to their own people and to other tribes. First Pima Baptist Church had a Woman's Missionary Society and Sunbeam Band for some years, and when...
