JEFFERSON CITY -- The House easily passed a bill Thursday barring Missouri colleges from enrolling illegal immigrants, despite charged political debate before the vote.

The bill requires public colleges and universities to certify that they do not knowingly enroll illegal immigrants before they can receive state money.

The bill, passed by a vote of 112-39, now goes to the Senate.
