Jordan Carey said his dismissal from the Oregon football team was due to continued use of marijuana.

`I know that I have a substance abuse problem and that I need to work this through in order to move forward in a positive and healthy way,' Carey said in a statement released to the media Wednesday, one day after the school announced his banishment. `My hope is that people will be forgiving of me, and that other athletes will see the damage caused by drug addiction.'
