Supporters of Measure 38 offer both economic and political reasons to sell SAIF, the state-owned workers' compensation company. SAIF does, indeed, have problems that deserve Oregonians' attention. Measure 38, however, tears down the house without regard for the people living inside - the 46,000 Oregon employers whose workers are insured by SAIF. Voters should reject this reform-by-wrecking-ball proposal.

Whatever its problems - and with good leadership, these should prove transitory - SAIF has succeeded in providing good workers' compensation coverage at an affordable price. On Tuesday Gov.
