Nick Symmonds and Andrew Wheating, who will compete in the 800 meters in the Olympic Games in Beijing, ran tune-up races before a few hundred enthusiastic fans after the youth all-comers meet Wednesday night at Hayward Field.

Afterward, the scoreboard had farewell messages - "Good luck, Nick" and "Good luck, Andrew" - and the next time you see them could be in the telecast of the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games, which start Aug. 8.
