It was no surprise that Chase Headley made it to the big leagues with San Diego this season, but four other former Eugene Emeralds have also been called up to the majors by the Padres.

Headley made his professional debut with the Ems in 2005 when he hit .268 with six home runs and 33 RBIs in 57 games before being promoted to long-season Single-A Fort Wayne late in the season.

A second-round pick out of Tennessee, Headley was quickly tabbed as a "can't-miss" prospect and he reached the majors in just his third year of pro ball when he played eight games with the Padres last season. After starting this season in Triple-A Portland, Headley was considered one of the top prospects in baseball when he was promoted to San Diego in June. He is batting .252 with six homers and 15 RBIs in 37 games this season.
