FIRST Robotics Competition gets high schoolers excited about science, engineering.

In 1989 Dean Kamen founded FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) as a public charity. The group is a result of his vision to create a world where science and technology are celebrated, where young people dream of becoming heroes in those fields and where they have fun becoming tomorrow's technology leaders. His dream caught fire among others and is now supported by a network of more than 2,500 corporations, educational and professional institutions, and individuals. FIRST encourages engineers and other professionals to volunteer help with its programs in several ways.

Volunteers help make Kamen's vision into reality, and encourage young people to pursue careers in science and technology at the same time.
