AS service centers expand value-added processing and move to a higher position in the value stream, customers are demanding higher levels of quality. As a result, service centers are being tasked with capturing much more quality information than was ever required in the past.

Most production reporting systems normally used by service centers are not designed to capture quality information, so quality reporting is frequently handled in makeshift fashion using paper forms, spreadsheets or custom software. As the amount and importance of quality-related information rises, demand is growing to manage both quality and production reporting in one system to save time and reduce the potential for errors.
