The nature of appraisers is such that they may work on an office computer and work on a laptop in remote locations. Thus, some of the most useful tools for appraisers with more than one computing device are those that synchronize the files you choose. File synchronization is ideal for this circumstance. Never again will that file you need be on one device and not on the other, which, of course, is where you really need it.
In computing terms, file synchronization is the process of making sure that two or more locations contain the same up-to-date files. With synchronization, making additions or changes to files on one device will add, change or delete the same file on another device. In a one-way sync, also called mirroring, files are copied only from the "source" computer to the "target" computer. In bi-directional synchronization process, files are copied in both directions, keeping the two locations "in sync" with each other.
