Change is happening rapidly throughout the distribution industry. Anticipating these new challenges and preparing for them is one way to keep your distributorship running smoothly.

When I first learned that this month's column was to address the changing role of the distributor, my first thought was that so many of the changes impacting jan/san distributors have already been tackled. The need to emphasize value-added services, increased competition from a variety of new sources, cost controls, and similar topics have been widely discussed.

However, what has recently changed is the urgent need for jan/san distributors to understand what is happening now and shift accordingly. Big changes are on the horizon for all distributors, and some of these were not even a consideration six months...
