It's about that time to roll up your sleeves, grit your teeth and take your medicine.

Lane County Public Health has scheduled a series of public flu shot clinics around the county, starting Oct. 11 and concluding Nov. 17.

Vaccination against influenza is especially important for people at high risk for the disease - the very young, the elderly and those who work around ill people - but everyone can benefit from a flu shot, said Betsy Meredith, communicable disease nursing supervisor for Lane County Public Health.

"There are three ways to think about: protecting yourself, protecting your community, protecting your loved ones," she said.
