Civic Stadium steeped in history

If you're like me, you've got your packet of tickets for the Ems' games this season.

It's hard not to go to Civic Stadium to watch baseball. It is always an exciting moment when you walk into the grandstand and see the fans anticipating another hopeful season. With the crack of the bat and the pop of the ball in the glove, the smell of the fresh-cut grass and ballpark treats, once again, life is good.

When you sit in your favorite spot to watch the game, it becomes familiar, yet it feels new again. You've seen hundreds of games there. You feel a reverence for the place, a kind of realism that feels unreal. It comes from deep within. It is an aspect of life that does not need explaining or understanding, just experiencing.

Participating in the excitement of the game offers a time to let go of all your worries and woes of the world and be in the moment. In Civic Stadium, there is no other way to be a true baseball fan than to be there. Steeped in history and tradition here in Eugene since 1938, with the echoes of past players, Hall of Famers and of sawmill workers, playing their hearts out for the love of the game.
