Andrew Wheating insists he won't need to buy a meet program to know what he's up against in tonight's men's 800-meter final.

The unassuming UO sophomore, who has had a meteoric rise in the U.S. ranks this season, said he's familiar with the competitors in a race that has been generating buzz for several weeks leading up to the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials.

The showdown, which also features hometown hero Nick Symmonds, of Oregon Track Club Elite, begins at 8:25 p.m. at Hayward Field.

"Yeah, I know who they are," said Wheating, when asked if he fully grasped the pedigrees of the 800 finalists shortly after Saturday's semifinals.

"I don't really know how good they are in terms of their running in the past, but I've heard of them. I don't really get bothered by that stuff....
