Muna Lee always has fancied herself as a 100-meter runner.

On Saturday, before a sweltering crowd of 20,604 at Hayward Field, the former LSU standout realized that goal as she earned the moniker of fastest woman in the U.S. by winning the 100 title with a time of 10.85 seconds at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials.

Lee, who originally hails from Kansas City, Mo., credited her victory over a supremely talented field of American sprinters to "getting out of the blocks," a minor kink in her race that she has worked hard to improve.
