This section of the Journal attempts to keep readers informed of current resources of an integrative nature or those related to the general field of the psychology of religion appearing in other professional journals. A wide range of psychological and theological journals are surveyed regularly in search of such resources. The editor of the Journal File welcomes correspondence from readers concerning relevant theoretical or research articles in domestic or foreign journals which contribute directly or indirectly to the task and process of integration and to an understanding of the psychology of religion.

The professionalization of faculty at religious colleges and universities Vol. 46(1), 87-100

Parker, Beaty, Mencken, and Lyon observe that there has been a decline in religious identity among faculty at religious colleges and universities over the past several decades. This trend is typically related to the increasing professionalization of such faculties; in other words, the professional norms of faculty members' disciplines may be overriding their commitment and identification, with the norms and values of their faith.

In order to test this hypothesis, these researchers conducted a number of statistical analyses on a set of data from the late 1990's. This data was collected from full-time faculty members at Baylor University, Boston College, Brigham Young University, Georgetown College, the University of Notre Dame, and Samford University.

Consistent with their hypotheses, Parker, Beaty, Mencken, and Lyon found that faculty identified more with their professional norms than faith-based norms related to academic freedom; in this area, faculty expressed desire for few, if any, religious constraints on their research and teaching.
