Firing a white man because he is married to an African-American woman is a violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled. The court reversed a lower court's dismissal of a lawsuit in which a former assistant basketball coach at New York's Iona College claimed that the college discriminated against him because of his interracial relationship. (Holcomb v. Iona College, 2008 WL 852129 (2d Cir. Apr. 1, 2008).)
