Thurston High School will hold its graduation ceremony June 7 at 1 p.m. at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts in Eugene.The commencement speaker will be Gary Bowden.

A baccalaureate service will be held Thursday at 8 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Young Life will conduct the service.

Valedictorian Michael Akins is the son of Scott and KarLynn Akins of Springfield. He will attend Western Oregon University to study engineering and pre-med and play football. He is a National Honor Society member and was a captain of the football, basketball and track teams.

Valedictorian Amanda Miller is the daughter of Jeff and Jean Miller of Springfield. She will attend Pacific University to pursue a degree in science. She also will play softball for Pacific. She was a member and president of the National Honor Society, a peer group leader, a peer tutor and a pitcher for the varsity softball team.

Valedictorian Ashley Potter is the daughter of Jerry and Rhonda Potter of Springfield. She will attend the University of Oregon, where she will major in business management, public policy and planning, or...
