Darrell Hunter has been a little bit of everything to the Thurston baseball team this season.

The senior is the Colts' No. 1 starting pitcher, their top power hitter, an NCAA Division-I recruit at shortstop and the team leader.

Today however, when top-ranked Thurston meets No. 4 Ashland in the OSAA Class 5A title game, Hunter will play one more important role for the Colts (26-3) - championship game veteran.

Hunter was the starting pitcher last season for Churchill in the Lancers 2-1 loss to Crater in the championship game. Hunter pitched the entire game against the Comets, and both runs he allowed were unearned.

He transferred back to Thurston - where he played as a freshman and sophomore - this school year.
