Maybe the third time will be the charm.

The city of Eugene on Friday received five proposals to redevelop the city-owned downtown pit north of the Public Library.

Three of the five proposals are from established developers: WG Development of Eugene, Opus Northwest of Portland and the Canterbury Group, also of Portland. The other two proposals are from less conventional developers.

It's the third time in the past five years that the city has sought developers to build something on the West 10th Avenue property that once housed a Sears store.
