HVAC engineers and researchers conduct CFD (computational fluid dynamics) analysis of a room's airflow and analyze the space distribution of temperature to confirm good HVAC system design. Careful CFD analysis is very popular these days, and engineers believe they can trust the results. They check the temperature and velocity distributions in rooms, especially those in the occupant zone, and if temperatures are moderately distributed, they rarely improve the design. CFD is a powerful tool, but it is time and labor intensive; for our effort, is there more that CFD can tell us?

CFD provides a full range of utility to engineers, in addition to analysis of airflow and temperature distribution. With additional analysis, an engineer can understand how airflow affects temperature distribution.
