Article Excerpt ON JUNE 17, the United States House of Representatives passed, by a vote of 241 to 185, an amendment to increase funding for the National Endowment for the Arts by $10 million, to a $131 million total for the FY2005 budget. If the Senate, as expected, supports the amendment, the additional money will provide more funds for special initiatives and, of urgent importance, impoverished local and state arts organizations across the country.
