When Dustin Waldron entered Marist High School as a freshman in 2004, he was unsure if he would ever participate in athletics for the Spartans

By his own admission, he just wasn't very good at sports - yet.

Now, four years later, Waldron will leave Marist at the end of the school year as one of the most successful athletes in school history.

Individually, the three-sport standout has been all-state in football and basketball and a state-meet qualifier in track and field. He will attend Portland State on a football scholarship next year.

But what truly sets Waldron apart is the four team championships he has won so far while at Marist - two state titles in football, and one more in both basketball and track and field.

"That's just absolutely incredible," said new Marist football coach Frank Geske, who, as an assistant at Portland State this past year, was Waldron's primary recruiter for the Vikings. "Most people would be happy to get one."
