On a day when it was announced that Oregon and Arizona State will play before a national television audience, there was still much that was not revealed.

Namely, the right thumb of ASU quarterback Rudy Carpenter, which was injured in the third quarter of the No. 6 Sun Devils' win over California on Saturday. Carpenter had a brace on his hand for a press conference with Arizona media Monday afternoon, and reportedly kept it under a table and hidden from view during the session.

On Sunday, ASU coach Dennis Erickson said he expected Carpenter to throw today. But Carpenter played coy Monday.

'You'll have to come to practice to find out,' he told reporters.
