This collection of films takes us into the mind, heart, and soul of Martha Graham. Directed by Peter Glushanok, it has beautifully remastered those classics from the 1950s, A Dancer's World, Night Journey, and Appalachian Spring. Included are behind-the-scenes interviews with the dancers who collaborated with Graham to make what is, in my opinion, the greatest body of contemporary choreography.

We begin with A Dancer's World, a lecture-demonstration narrated by Graham from her dressing room in 1956. The seemingly calm purr of her voice is held taut by an inner tension only she possessed. She is utterly feline. In gesture and countenance, she inspires us with insight from a life devoted to dance. Her deep, dark eyes penetrate the soul.
