Sweden has such a variety of fine poets, one hungers for collections of their poems in good English translations. Unfortunately, this volume does not appease that hunger, for the voice in these translations comes out sounding the same for most of the poets--smooth but not compelling and oddly alike.

The book's shortcomings are already evident in the title, "To catch life anew" (a phrase from a poem by Barbro Dahlin). We know what it means, but the language level is too high, and how many modern readers in our country...
