For the last fifteen years or so, the University of Tromso has been at the epicenter of a storm of Hamsun research. Not only do scholars there run the Hamsun-Selskap, but the university also hosts a quadrennial International Hamsun Conference (three have been held so far). The topic of time and space in Hamsun's prose proved to be so fruitful that it (consisting of papers from one of the Hamsun conferences) has been followed by the present book with that title.

The book consists of ten articles dealing with time and space in Hamsun's prose works. Linda Hamrin Nesby's lead article, "En studie av Knut Hamsuns Pan (1894) med vekt pa naturrepresentasjonen," concerns both time and space. Only one...
