A blizzard of black dots floated up before my eyes. They danced across the lined paper, trying to coalesce into coherent patterns, but always ended up scattering. It was a snowstorm of sticks and dots, a blast of bubbles sent to confuse me. What was this foreign language?

I was sitting at the piano at my first lesson. How I ended up there has always been a point of contention in my family. My parents say I gladly agreed to go, but I think they tricked my innocent 6-year-old self. Either way, there I sat, destined to torture this massive instrument.
