Wanda Barker

BLUE RIVER - Wanda Lucille "Nanny" Barker of Blue River died March 25 of leukemia and emphysema at age 85. A family service was held.

She was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Graham, Texas, to Oakly and Bertha Rector Purcell. She married Jesse Barker on Oct. 7, 1942, in Centralia, Ill.

She worked as a customer service representative for General Telephone Co. for 20 years. She was a high school graduate.

Survivors include three children, Sunny Kierstyn, Mike Barker and Colleen Lewis, all of Eugene; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her husband died Jan. 13, 2001.

Arrangements by Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield.

Raymond Comstock

CRESWELL - A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at New Hope Baptist Church in Creswell for Raymond E. Comstock of Creswell. He died March 12 of complications of pneumonia at age 85.

He was born Feb. 27, 1923, in La Grande to Russell and Hilda Howard Comstock. He married Lois Kivett on Sept. 5, 1942, in Eugene.

Comstock served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946. He retired from Pacific Northwest Bell after 37 years.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Roxana Russell of Yuma, Ariz., and Julie Marshall of Sumter, S.C.; a brother, William Bowen of Wasilla, Alaska; two stepsisters, Vivian Walker and La Nelda Watts, both of Eugene; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
