The Brooklyn-based, Balkan-influenced electronica, pop and rock collective coming to the Shedd on Tuesday fits very well into Forrest Gump's chocolate simile.

Only in the Balkan Beat Box, you know, at the very least you will get beats. And as such, the Shedd is opening up a dance section at the side of the venue where any visitor with a ticket can shake it up-close and get a better view of however many international musicians join the core group of six on this tour.
Wherever it travels, the Beat Box brings uptempo dance music with a Balkan backbone. YouTube videos show frenetic dancers lining stages all over the world while a saxophone soloist belts out Balkan melodies and a shirtless Tomer Yosef keeps hands clapping and feet jumping to synthetic and live beats.
The scene is not an easy one to describe, and it's best experienced firsthand.
"Blending electronic music with hard-edged folk music from the Balkans, North Africa and the Middle East, the exciting and internationally acclaimed group Balkan Beat Box has proved that the entire world is indeed a stage," a news release says. "(We) are all Gypsies."
Spin calls the group's new album, "Nu Med," a "global peacekeeping mission you can dance to."
The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $22 to $32....
